What a challenging visual -- and disturbing. I see the busy huddle of penguins turning away from the cross, refusing to look, although it is in their midst. It reminds me of a book about diversity that was popular in business circles a while back, a fable I think, "Peacock in the Land of Penguins." Is this your artwork? Thanks for sharing it, Cindy.

Thanks, Mike, for your insights. "We belong to the land, the land does not belong to us." These days, I find the Spirit jostling, poking me, trying to get my focused attention. The zoom presentation today in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's life and legacy sure did that for me!

Written a thousand years ago, this speaks the truth of losing one we love -- a spouse or partner but also a parent, a child, a sibling, a beloved friend. We return again and again to the hole in our heart that never really heals (although others might tell us it will), where we can go to know love in the painful joy of remembering,

Mike, thanks for posting about the MMOJ community based in Sarasota. It sounds as if they have been wonderfully creative in engaging everyone in their zoom liturgy. I especially appreciate the chatting beforehand, the interactive dialogue homily, and sharing the blessing of the bread and wine. It is truly "liturgy," the work of the people. A beautiful model and I understand why you are nurtured by it. I plan to join you on zoom one Saturday soon.

The artist tells us this is the Baptism of the Christ, but I also see the Crucifixion here. Arms outstretched join the horizon, earth blends with sky, dying in Christ, rising to new life. I love the movement in the cobalt blue waters. What a powerful image!

Thanks for posting this Mary Oliver poem, Martha. She is one of my longtime favorites. "And anyway, what's wrong with Maybe?" almost needs to be said aloud to hear her boldness. She is speaking her truth to power and makes clear that she refuses to be constrained by narrow thinking. Her belief is wider, inviting the possibility of seeing angels -- and all else that May be.
