Such rich comments from everyone. I am grateful we are havining this conversation and discernment. My preferance is for option 3. What most encourages me these days of change is the realization we are on the edge of a rebirth concerning the liturgy. The Liturgical Life Committee is reading "Creation and the Cross" by Theologian Eilzabeth Johnoson and it is helping us realize how much we need to update the Liturgy to meet contemporary theology and the times we live in. So my suggestions would be, no matter what we decide, to first make sure the liturgy is theologically current and at the same time preserve what we have already learned concerning the beautiful ritual with respectful movements, sacred art symbols, and music that have added to the sacredness of our gatherings. The Real Action of the Liturgy, accroding the the Vatican II documents on Environment and ritual, resides in the Action of the People Gathered together around the altar. It is all of us together that keeps me coming back on Sundays.
